A quieter peninsula route

Key PeninsulaForest roads, saltwater parks, and room to slow down.

The Key Peninsula sits in west Pierce County, just south of Kitsap, and rewards a different style of day trip: fewer must-see stops, more shoreline, wooded roads, local parks, and time to notice the distance between small communities such as Key Center, Home, Lakebay, and Longbranch.

Start with what makes it distinct

Things worth leaving room for.

A shorter, stronger list beats a catalog. These stops give a first visit shape while leaving space to follow your curiosity.

  3. Late day03

    Finish at the shoreline

Choose Penrose Point for forest and cove walks or Joemma Beach for a low-key picnic, dock, and Case Inlet views.

Why the Key Peninsula works

The route is part of the reward.

This is not a town-center day. The peninsula’s character comes from the space between parks, farms, shoreline communities, and wooded stretches of road. Leave more time than the mileage suggests.

It belongs on About Kitsap because it pairs naturally with South Kitsap and the wider peninsula region, but geographic accuracy matters: Key Peninsula communities are in Pierce County.
